CURRENT SKINCARE ESSENTIALS & ROUTINE

2:10:00 pm

I like to switch up my skincare products every once in a while as I'm always on the hunt for new products that help my skin a bit better. I have recently found a pretty consistent skincare routine which seems to work wonders for my sensitive skin. These products are my go-to current skincare essentials which I use on a daily basis.

When it comes to taking my makeup off, I don't use any sort of makeup wipe. I have very sensitive skin and I have found that near enough every makeup wipe I use irritates the crap out of my skin. My face till turn bright red, it'll start to itch and it will also start to swell up. When I discovered 'cleansing balms' I was completely over the moon. I started to use The Body Shop's Chamomile Cleansing Balm which I really enjoyed using until I discovered the magic of Clinique's Take The Day Off Cleansing Milk which takes my makeup off like a charm. I simply wet my face with some warm water, use two or three pumps of this and work it into my fingers and I then massage it all over my face but I avoid my eyes. Once I've massaged this in for about 2 minutes, I rinse it off with some warm water. This cleansing milk dissolves my makeup very easily and leaves my face feeling extra clean and refreshed.

The reason as to why I avoid my eyes with the cleansing milk, is because I use a different product which is purely designed to get rid of eye makeup. This is the Garnier Micellar Cleansing Water which is used to remove face, eye and lip makeup, however I purely just use this on my eyes. I pour a generous amount of this onto a cotton pad, press gently over my eyes and hold it there for about 30 seconds and simply wipe away. If there's any excess product that's still clinging onto my eyes then I will get a cotton bud with the cleansing water on it and gently massage my eyelashes. This product does a good job of getting rid of eye makeup and even waterproof makeup. There's no need to rinse your eyes with water afterwards either which is handy.

When it comes down to washing and moisturizing my skin, I use the Clinique's 3 Step Skin Care in type 2: Dry Combination skin. I only have the mini versions of these purely because I wanted to try it out first before I bought the full size products, as you may know they're quite expensive. The skin care products come in 4 different types to make it suitable for your skin. Type 1: Very Dry/Dry, Type 2: Dry CombinationType 3: Combination Oily, and Type 4: Oily (when you go to a Clinique counter you'll be matched up to a certain type). I wash my face with the Liquid Facial Soap in mild for about 2 minutes, it forms a nice lather onto my skin. I then rinse off and pat my face dry with a clean towel. I then move onto the Clarifying Lotion which is a gentle exfoliate used to de-flake skin and help it reveal clearer skin. I pour the tiniest amount of this product onto a cotton pad (a little goes a long way with this product) and I sweep this all over my face but avoiding the eye area. Your face may start to tingle but that's okay because it means that it's working, I promise. Once that's all soaked in, I move on to the Dramatically Different Moisturizing Lotion which is my favourite product out of all three. You only need a tiny amount of this product and it leaves my skin feeling so soft and hydrated throughout the whole day.

For my lips I always use a lip scrub every day and night. Lush's Mint Julips Lip Scrub is a perfect product for getting rid of any dead skin that may be lurking on the lips. This product smells amazing and leaves my lips feeling refreshed and tingly due to the mint oils. I like to follow this up by using a tiny bit of Vaseline to keep the moisture in my lips and then I'm good to go.

2015 RESOLUTION'S

2:59:00 pm

I can't believe it's 2015 already, where has the year gone?! 2014 was a year of ups and downs for me and I'm ready to forget all the down times that have happened, move on and start fresh. If I'm honest, I have never stuck to any of my New Year's Resolution's which I've made in the past, however I feel like I want to push myself into sticking with these one that I have come up with for this year. Hopefully by the end of 2015, I can proudly say that I achieved my resolutions.

1. Staying organised
I am the worst person when it comes to organisation. I am so unorganized it's ridiculous. I have had many points in my life last year where I was getting stressed out with myself because I was always leaving things till last minute. I also want my blog to be a bit more organised as well, my posting days are never consistent. I sometimes find myself blogging twice a week and then I'd get caught up in my work life and social life that I completely forget to post for another week or so. I want to get myself a daily planner so I can start prioritizing myself a bit more and hopefully I'll become a little more organised this year.

2. Be healthier
There was a few moments in my life last year where I wasn't happy with my body or my health in general. I noticed that I was eating a lot of junk food, me and my boyfriend went through a phase where we would eat takeaways quite often and I saw myself slowly putting on weight and I really wasn't happy with the way my body looked. Not only did I not like my body but I also didn't like how unfit I felt, I was getting out of breath a lot quicker than normal and I didn't do much exercise either because I was just a lazy person. This year I want to try and become more healthier by watching what I eat and doing more exercise. I want to start running which I'm most probably going to start doing that next month with my boyfriend as he's training for the marathon. I also am going to try and drink more water as I do consume a lot of fizzy drinks (oops) but this year I am going to completely push myself into becoming more healthier and happier person. Let's do this!

3. Save money
Since I got my first ever part time job 2 years ago working in retail, I have absolutely loved earning my own money. I have loved it so much that I literally spend it all within a few weeks and then I'll be completely money-less until I next get paid. My boyfriend and I have been talking about future plans to move in together and to go travelling and so on. It was a real eye opener for me because if we want to be able to do all of that then I'd have to be a bit more cautious with my money. I would like this year to be the year where I get myself a full time job that I really enjoy and I'd like to be able to save my money instead of spending it all at once on things that I probably don't really need. I'm going to try and budget my money a bit better this year.

4. Continue blogging
I started this blog just under a year ago as a hobby for myself. I love reading blogs and I love writing my own blog posts. It's something I enjoy and something that I will continue to enjoy. I'd like my blog to be more consistent, for example; I'd like to have two or three days a week where I'd write a blog post and I'd like to keep posting on those days to help my blog stay a bit more organised as I feel like my post days are all over the place at the moment. I'd also like to keep a little planner for myself to plan out what sort of blog posts I'm going to write about and stick to the ideas. Most importantly, I want to continue to enjoy blogging and to enjoy writing about what I love and what makes me happy.

5. Say 'yes' more
As a person that suffers with anxiety, I get quite nervous about doing new things. I felt like last year I turned down a lot of good opportunities for myself just because I was afraid of change. I like to stick to what I'm more comfortable with. However, I feel like I need to say yes more. I need to try and push myself into experiencing new things no matter how nervous I will be, because I know that in the future I will most probably regret saying no. I want to find a way to become less nervous about certain things and I also want to say yes to doing new things in my life as it can lead to some amazing opportunities.

NAKED 2 PALETTE REVIEW

4:54:00 pm

I've had my eye on the Naked 2 Palette for so long now that when I finally got it, I was literally over the moon. I have been using this palette near enough every single day since I got it and I know that I will continue to love this palette.

The palette includes 12 eyeshadow shades ranging from light to dark colour and that includes a mixture of matte and shimmery formulas. Each eyeshadow is very pigmented and easy to work with. I am able to achieve many different looks from this palette whether I'm wanting a more natural daytime look or a night out smokey eye look. The palette comes with a 'double-ended, cruelty free Good Karma eyeshadow/crease brush' which I have used a few times and it does a good job in blending the eyeshadows, however I prefer to stick to my real techniques brushes and I find them a lot easier to hold and use.
Here is a list of the 12 shades included in this palette:

  • Foxy (Cream coloured matte eyeshadow. Perfect for a base)
  • Half Baked (Shimmery golden bronze colour)
  • Bootycall (Shimmery formula with a pink undertone. Perfect for a brow bone highlight)
  • Chopper (Shimmery copper colour)
  • Tease (A matte brown. Good crease colour)
  • Snakebite (Dark bronze colour with shimmer)
  • Suspect (Pale golden beige colour with shimmer)
  • Pistol (Shimmery greyish brown colour with a blue undertone)
  • Verve (Silvery colour with shimmer. I used this on New Years. Very sparkly)
  • YDK (Bit like half baked but more darker. Shimmery)
  • Busted (A dark brown, slightly matte with a bit of shimmer)
  • Blackout (A matte black)
The palette also came with a set of 4 sample Eyeshadow Primer Potions to use before you apply eyeshadow to help it not crease and it so can last throughout the day. The primer samples came in 4 different formulas:

1. Original - This works invisibly to keep colour in place.
2. Eden - A nude matte formula preps lids and prevents shadow meltdown.
3. Sin - A shimmering formula which helps prevent fading and creasing.
4. Anti-Ageing - Makes shadow last and in an 8-week clinical study: 100% of participants had a measurable improvement in the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles. 100% had brighter skin and 97% had improvement in radiance and clarity.

If you haven't got a Naked palette, I would highly recommend them to anyone. They're extremely pigmented and work well on any skin tone. They are on the more pricey side but for the quality of the eyeshadows and how long they last, I would defiantly say it's worth the money.

MAYBELLINE 24 HOUR COLOUR TATTOOS

11:55:00 am

(Excuse the bad quality of photo's, I had very poor lighting the day I took the photo's)
I have recently been obsessed with the Maybelline 24 Hour Colour Tattoos. I've never tried cream eyeshadows before until I bought these. They're so inexpensive, retailing for £4.99 each which I think it's amazing especially for how much product you get in the pots.

I have two of my favourite colours from the collection which are: On and on Bronze and Metallic Pomegranate. They both include a bit of shimmer which creates a gorgeous effect on the eyelid. They both work perfect as a base for a smokey eye look or they look amazing on there own. Sometimes when I'm in a rush to get ready I'd simply blend this in with my finger and then use a fluffy brush to blend it out a bit more and to make it a little less harsh. I think they work amazing with a lot of different skin tones.

The texture of the product is so creamy and slides onto the lids very easily, also the staying power of these cream eyeshadows are amazing. They last all day long without having to use a primer underneath, they don't crease or slide around on the lids. The colour and vibrancy of these products manage to last throughout the whole day therefore you don't need to do any touch ups which is fab. I will say these are defiantly my go-to drugstore cream eyeshadows and I will be collecting more of the shades to add to my makeup collection.
