Stepping out of my comfort zone

5:05:00 pm

In past posts I’ve briefly talked about my anxiety and how I try to deal with it on a regular basis. Of course everybody has their down days every now and again however my anxiety stops me from doing so many things and I turn down a lot of opportunities/days out due to the constant worry of having a panic attack.

Stepping outside of my comfort zone is something that I believe I have needed to do for a very long time to help myself become a more independent person. Overtime I feel overwhelmed by fear that I feel like there’s no room for excitement or adventure in my comfort zone.
With that in mind, I have felt it’s about time I start stretching the limits just a little bit by taking baby steps into escaping that constant fear of stepping out of my comfort zone whilst also building confidence on the way.

Don’t be afraid to be yourself: One of the biggest things that hold me back is the fear of what other people think of me. I lived my life for a good few years trying to impress everyone (even those that I didn’t really like too much) in the result of wanting to be liked for myself. I’m not ashamed to admit that I used to agree on a lot of things that I didn’t actually agree on for the pure fact that I was too afraid of expressing how I truly felt just in case someone didn’t like my opinion. That is not the way to live. Everyone has different personalities and different opinions which is what makes us so special and unique. It’s okay to be silly and inappropriate at times and it’s defiantly okay for you to express your own feelings and be who you are. You’re not going to get along with every person you meet and that’s fine. Shatter your concern for what people think of you because you’re allowed to be less than perfect.

See failure as a learning curve: I don’t take many risks due to the fear of failing something, so instead I’d rather just not try in the first place which I know is the completely wrong attitude. I remember reading the quote “Ever tried, ever failed. No matter, try again. Fail again, fail better” I need to start accepting that failures are a part of life and if I don’t fail something then I’m never going to learn for the next time I want to try again. Don’t let failure discourage you, pick yourself back up, learn from it and try again.

Say “yes” more often: Even if you think you’re not ready or if you’re not sure on something, just say yes anyway. Going back on the point of taking risks, saying yes may open up many opportunities for you and if it doesn’t succeed then that’s okay. You might find yourself enjoying something that you never got the chance to do before. Just remember that in the end, you could regret all the chances that you didn’t take.
Do something that scares you: I’ve talked about being a nervous traveller in a recent post; I have a huge fear of transport especially flying. Last year, I faced my fear and went on a plane to Amsterdam and even though it was a short 45 minute journey – I still did it and felt amazing afterwards that I was able to accomplish a major fear of mine. Managing that journey without having massive amounts of anxiety has made me realise that next time I can go that little bit further and be okay with it mentally.
Do you feel stuck inside of your comfort zone? I’d love to know your ways on how you push yourself out of it!

Recent Beauty Bits with Bourjois

10:30:00 am

After hearing that Bourjois had a 3 for 2 offer on in Boots about a week ago, I couldn’t resist and just had to pick up some things (even though I’m meant to be saving for my holiday. Oops!). I have always been a huge lover of Bourjois as they were one of the first brands I ever tried when I started getting into makeup properly. I’m super happy with these recent purchases so obviously it would be rude not to share, say hello to my new Bourjois bits…

Healthy Mix Foundation (£9.99): No matter how many foundations I like to try out, there will always be that one foundation I always go back to no matter what and this is definitely ‘that foundation’. I remember a few years back I would re-purchase this product over and over again because I just love it so much. I haven’t used this for a good few months or so and I was in desperate need of a new foundation when I went shopping therefore I picked it up (again) and remembered all the reasons why I loved this. Although, I’m pretty sure they’ve changed the formula of this since I last used it as I found it gave a healthy glow to my skin which I don’t remember it being this dewy before however never the less, I still frickin’ love this product.

Radiance Reveal Concealer (£7.99): I got introduced to this back when my best friend Taylor (tmaemakeup) did my makeup one day for her portfolio. She used this to highlight and brighten underneath my eyes and my life changed forever (lol bit of an exaggeration) but seriously, this product is insane. For someone who has super dry under eyes like myself, this product works wonders to help keep my eyes hydrated whilst also giving me a brightened under eye which lasts for the whole day. For years, I’ve been using the Collection Lasting Perfection Concealer as I’m so pale that the fair shade worked perfect for my skin however this Bourjois concealer is now my holy grail and I’ll definitely will be leaning more towards this for future re-purchases. (With the 3 for 2 offer, I ended up getting this one FREE as it was the cheapest. Bonus!)

Rouge Edition Velvet Lipstick: Beau Brun (£8.99): I can’t go into Boots and not buy a lipstick. I’m an absolute lipstick hoarder so it wouldn’t be normal for me. Not going to lie but I literally spent 15 minutes trying to figure out which shade I wanted to get as there was too much choice and I just wanted them all. I’m pretty sure the boyfriend didn’t enjoy this part, bless him. I ended up going with ‘Beau Brun’ – a gorgeous pinky/nude shade, perfect for the warmer months. I already own one of these velvet lipsticks in another colour therefore I knew what the formula was going to be like already but in case you guys don’t know, there super creamy and soft when first applied to the lips and then they dry down into a liquid lipstick however they don’t dry out my lips fully which is what I like most about it. They’re non-transferable yet they are super easy to remove with makeup remover at the end of the day, which means you won’t need to scrub your lips to oblivion just to remove the product.

Have you tried anything from Bourjois? What’s your favourite products?

Must Have Carry-On Travel Essentials

10:46:00 am

With my holiday only being 11 days away, I think it’s safe to say that am very excited yet super nervous at the same time. I am such a nervous flyer. Well, I’m an anxious traveler in general. In my mind I believe that my comfort on a flight begins with how you pack your carry-on bag, I need to make sure I pack everything which will keep me feeling content and comfortable for the flight (and hopefully pass the time a bit quicker).

The Basics
Travel Bag: I currently use a plain black rucksack which I got for £10 in Primark and it has done me wonders. It’s the perfect size and I manage to fit quite a lot of stuff in there. I love how it has front pockets and also two more compartments inside for even more extra storage. I use this as my main travel bag and also my staying over bag for when I’m round a friend/family house for the evenings.

Travel Wallet: The boyfriend and I picked one of these up from eBay last year before we headed off to Amsterdam. I believe it cost around £5/£6 which I thought was very reasonable considering the ones we looked at were more on the £12 side of things. It fits all of our boarding passes, passports, ID cards and travel money inside, leaving plenty more room for any other extra cards and details you want to take along with you.

What I bring to keep comfortable
Flip Flops: If I’m going away on a summer holiday, I always love to either wear flip flops for the whole journey or bring a pair with me in my bag so I can change into them halfway through ready to face the hot weather when I get to the other side.

Sunglasses: There’s nothing worse than getting off the plane to bright, sunny weather and not having any sunglasses for protection therefore you end up squinting the whole way to your hotel/villa. I like to think ahead and bring a pair with me so that I can chuck them of once we’ve gotten off the plane.

Travel Pillow: I get neck aches whenever I sit down for a long amount of time. My brother bought a travel pillow recently and it’s the most comfy thing ever and I’m definitely going to be bringing it on the flight with me. We have an early morning flight therefore I will most probably end up having a little nap on the plane with this pillow as my support.

Lip Balm and Hand Cream: During flights, I always get super dry lips and hands therefore bringing lip balm & hand cream along with me is essential.

How I keep entertained
iPad: With the recently new download Netflix feature, I am definitely going to be catching up with some shows on my iPad to make the time go a bit faster.

Headphones: I don’t know what I would do without my headphones on a flight. I’ve always had problems with my ears where I’ve had to go to the doctors numerous amount of times, therefore headphones do me the world of good. There’s nothing worse than having blocked ears for days whilst you’re trying to enjoy your holiday.

Books: I have always loved reading ever since I was little. Getting stuck into a book is a good way to pass the time. I’m currently reading 13 Reasons Why after watching the show on Netflix and I’m loving it so far, it’s defiantly the book that I’m bringing on holiday with me.

Snacks: Of course you’re bound to get a bit peckish on the plane therefore I like to stock up with some snacks to help keep me content. (I get a bit ‘hangry’ otherwise lol).

What is on your ‘must have carry-on essentials’ list when it comes down to travelling?

Keeping Skin Hydrated with L'Oreal Hydra Genius

9:57:00 am

Choosing the correct skincare products for myself can sometimes be a difficult task. Like most people, my skin changes throughout the year however I have always had sensitive skin and most products I’ve found tend to break me out or lead to some kind of reaction. I have been in desperate need of a new moisturiser as my skin is on the dry side at the moment especially on my cheeks and with the hot weather that we’ve had, I want my skin to look as healthy and as glowy as it possibly can. Thank god for L'Oreal's new Hydra Genius line.

I believe this range comes in three different versions based on skin types: Normal to Dry skin, Normal to Combination skin and Dry & Sensitive skin. The first thing I noticed and fell in love with was the packaging, it comes in an elegant blue glass bottle which makes the product look a lot more expensive than what it actually is. The glass contains 70ml of product and at the moment it’s on offer for £6.65 in Boots but originally retails for £9.99.

The main ingredient is Glycerin with added in Hyaluronic Acid. What is Hyaluronic Acid? It’s a gel-like water holding molecule that our skin already produces. Hyaluronic Acid improves skin hydration, stimulates production of collagen in skin, maintains skin elasticity, works as an antioxidant and has anti-inflammatory activity (it can also hold 1000 times its weight in water). Another ingredient is Pure Aloe Vera which is renowned for its moisturising properties and rich in essential minerals, it helps to sooth the skin whilst maintaining the skins water reserves.

The texture of this product is unlike any other moisturiser I’ve used in the past. It’s somewhere between a lotion and a gel yet it’s super lightweight on the skin and takes just a few seconds to fully absorb into my skin without leaving any sort of greasy or sticky texture behind. I can instantly see results after using this product. My skin feels softer and fresh, I also suffer with a bit of textured skin around my chin and the lower parts of my cheeks, I find that this has started to improve throughout the past couple of days and it’s without a doubt due to this product. My makeup goes on a lot smoother and I always seem to have a radiant glow to my skin after applying the Hydra Genius. I have a feeling this product is going to be something I constantly re-purchase in the future.

8 Things That Happen When You Get Engaged

1:01:00 pm

If you follow me on social media then you would’ve seen that I got engaged on Monday and yes, it still feels super weird to say that however it was honestly one of the best days of my life. What I thought was a normal day off work ended up being completely different, Alex surprised me with breakfast at the shard and then tickets to London Zoo to feed the cute little monkeys. After a walk around Regents Park, he got on one knee to propose and I cried so many happy tears. I feel like nobody talks about the things that happen right after you get engaged, even though we’re a newly engaged couple these are some of the things that happen after you get engaged (well, at least these are the things that have happened to me):

       1.      You over-use the word fiancé - An hour after he proposed, I couldn’t help but say ‘Oh hey Fiancé!’ multiple times until it got very annoying (but I secretly loved every minute of it). You find yourself constantly using this word all the time just because you can! I wake up every morning with a ‘Morning fiancé’ in the most girliest voice possible and he laughs at it and replies back but you can tell on his face that it gets a bit annoying after a while lol.

      2.      You want to tell EVERYONE Yes, even strangers. I couldn’t stop showing off my ring to the whole world afterwards. I was paying in Primark and I handed over my money whilst showing off my ring as if to say “Yep. He put a ring on it”. You will want to put the news out there on everything whether that’s Twitter, Facebook or Instagram with the most amount of engagement hashtags as possible. EVERYONE NEEDS TO KNOW.

      3.      You will become super over-protective of the ring – It’s gotten to the point where I’ll take my ring off before bed and put it back into its perfect little box because I’m too scared in case it falls off whilst I’m asleep (even though it probably won’t). You will also get very paranoid if anyone wants to hold the ring, in the back of your mind you’ll be saying ‘omg please don’t drop it, ok that’s enough. Okay give it back now’ haha!

      4.      You will immediately start planning your wedding – Even though we don’t plan on getting married until a good few more years yet, I instantly took to Pinterest and made a wedding board so I could pin all the cute and quirky wedding ideas. Then you’ll share all your marvelous ideas with your fiancé to the point where he’ll get so bored and fed up of looking at wedding stuff when you’re nowhere near getting married yet lol. It’s just fun to do and omg let’s not forget about how many wedding dresses you’ll end up looking at.

      5.      You’ll tell the engagement story over and over again – At first, it’ll be fun and exciting to tell all your family and friends the famous story of how he proposed, but once you get asked for the thousandth time, it will start to get a tad annoying.

      6.      You will get excited every time you hear Beyoncé’s song – All the single ladies will start playing and you’ll end up doing some crazy dance whilst pointing to your ring with that hand flip move to show everyone that he did put a ring on it.

      7.      You’ll constantly keep up with painting your nails – I’m the type of girl who hates painting my nails and if you know me then you’d know that I always have chipped, ugly nails. Not anymore. I feel like a changed women and I constantly want to buy prettier nail varnish so I can get those perfect nails for when I show everyone the ring.

      8.      You will feel so overwhelmed yet super happy – At one point you will actually realise that you’re going to be marrying the person you love the most and spending the rest of your life with them. It’s such an overwhelming feeling of happiness and excitement.

Why I Love Makeup Sponges

12:59:00 pm

Although I have an undying love for my flat top kabuki brush for giving me such a flawless finish with foundation, I will always have a place in my heart for beauty blenders/makeup sponges. The first makeup sponge I ever heard of was the beauty blender however I found a cheaper alternative and went for the Real Techniques Complexion Sponge and I’ve never looked back since. Nowadays, a variety of brands are bringing out different sized makeup sponges all for different uses and I have found they’ve made a huge difference in my makeup application. Here are a few reasons as to why I love makeup sponges and why I will continue to re-purchase them in the future:

They have unique shapes | Most beauty sponges will come in a sort of oval shape which makes the rounder side perfect for bouncing foundation over the main parts of your face, then you have the little point which makes it easier to get the foundation blended around your nose and underneath your eyes.

You can use them wet or dry | I like to use my complexion sponge when it’s a bit damp as I find it’s easier to blend my foundation out, also the sponge becomes softer and more flexible making it a whole lot easier to use. The only time I tend to use a dry beauty sponge is when I’m baking with loose powder, I like to pick up a good amount of product and bake underneath my eyes, my nose and my smile lines. It works perfectly and my makeup doesn’t budge for the rest of the day.

Cleaning them is super easy | Although makeup sponges claim to last a few months, they can actually last a lot longer if you take great care of them and clean them on a regular basis. I am the type of person who despises cleaning makeup brushes as I have way too many and I find it very time consuming, however I L O V E cleaning makeup sponges because they’re super easy to clean. Baby shampoo and a bit of olive oil works perfectly to deep clean and get out any staining that the makeup may have left.

Sponges give me the most natural yet flawless finish | My flat top kabuki brush will always be my favourite for foundation application however, it gives me a super full coverage that I don’t always want on a daily basis. Makeup sponges are for the days where I want a natural looking skin day but I still want to look healthy and flawless. It’s also great to use when my skin is dry as it doesn’t disrupt the skin as much as a brush would.

I spend less time applying foundation | Using a makeup sponge I found has been the quickest and most efficient way to apply foundation with especially if I’m in a rush. They blend out the foundation super quick without the worry of having to try and blend away brush strokes or any dry patches.

I believe that everyone should have some sort of makeup sponge in their collection or at least try it, because I guarantee you’ll become obsessed with them just like I did. What are your thoughts on makeup sponges?

5 Ways to Switch Off After a Stressful Week

2:48:00 pm

Last week was full of stressful moments for me. I don’t deal with stress very well as I’m one of those people who tends to break down into tears the minute I get stressed about something and it truly is horrible. As I was casually scrolling through Pinterest one evening, I came across a short quote that completely stood out to me:
“It is ok to take a break”

Sometimes we get so piled up with stuff that we feel like our heads may explode. It’s so important to pause and really think about what is most important at that moment in time. Yes. It’s okay to take a break from everything once in a while, to switch off from the world and focus on yourself for a change. How do we switch off? Well, everyone has their own ways of relaxing and winding down at the end of the day. Here are 6 things that I like to do:

Read a book | Reading a book is one of the most relaxing things to do in my opinion. Getting stuck into a good story helps me to forget about all my worries and de-stresses my mind from any negativity. I recently picked up a new book to start reading called: Our Chemical Hearts by Krystal Sutherland which is beautifully written Young Adult book about love and loss.

Switch off from Social Media | This is something I have been trying to add into my life recently. We use social media every single day for an excessive amount of hours (well, I do anyways) and that’s not a bad thing however it can become too much sometimes especially when it starts to affect your social life. It would get to the point where I’d come home from work and instead of spending time with my boyfriend who I haven’t seen for the day, we’d both end up on our phones for hours catching up. I’ve been starting to switch off from my social media for a few hours each day, and it honestly makes such a difference with my stress levels.

Talk to someone | I have always noticed that it’s much better to let your feelings out to someone you can trust rather than boxing them up on the inside and actually making you feel worse. It’s okay to get a second opinion sometimes and it’s also okay to ask for some help and advice when you need it the most. When I’m stressed, I’ll either turn to my boyfriend for help or I’ll end up ranting to my best friend over WhatsApp and that instantly makes me feel better.

Organising things |Bit of a strange one, but it’s always helped me. When I’m stressed and mind is completely puzzled, I like to organise my stuff. Whether that’d be my makeup drawers, my wardrobe or just cleaning around the house in general. I feel 100 times more organised afterwards and having some sort of order in my stuff makes me less stressed out in the future.

Go to bed early |When I’m tired, I tend to get a bit more ‘cranky’ and agitated which is where most of my stress comes into the picture. I used to go to sleep at around 2am which was never good as I would wake up and feel super irritated for the rest of the day. I’ve been trying to get into bed earlier than normal, probably around 9pm on work days or 8pm on my days off. I never force myself to sleep as that doesn’t work, I like to lay in bed until I feel tired – going to be earlier helps me to have a better and more productive day the next morning.

What are some of your favourite ways to switch off during a stressful day/week?

A Round Up Of My Favourite Cream Contour Products

10:02:00 am

Oh I do love a good contour. It’s become part of my daily makeup routine and I genuinely feel ‘naked’ or ‘not put together’ if I skip this step. Don’t get me wrong, I still love powder products however I feel like cream products look more natural and gives my skin radiance rather than the matte look. During the spring and summer I like my skin to look glowy and healthy and these are some of my favourite cream contour products which help me to achieve that look:

Clinique Chubby Stick | This is one of the first cream contour products I ever purchased, and I also bought the highlighter chubby stick to go with it however I wasn’t a big fan of that one. Without even exaggerating here, this product has lasted me a good two years and it’s most likely out of date however I can’t bring myself to throw it away until I’ve used it all up. This sculpting contour contains no shimmer and the shade is more on the warmer side which I prefer as I don’t like grey, cool tone contours. The pigmentation is great and you only need to use the tiniest amount which is why it’s lasted me such a long time and its fab considering it cost £19. It blends into my skin nicely leaving me with natural looking sculpted cheek bones.

Chanel Soleil Tan De Chanel | If you haven’t heard of this product then where the heck have you been?! This was all the hype a few years back and I feel like pretty much everyone had this in their makeup collection. With the price range being £32, is it really worth it? YES. You can use this product underneath foundation for a bronzing base or use it on top as a cream bronzer. The velvety finish of this product keeps your skin looking radiant and sun kissed. It’s a light cream-gel formula which blends beautifully into the skin. It’s a very subtle product however it’s super buildable and just like the Clinique Chubby Stick, it has a warm undertone and lasts a very long time.

Technic Contour Stix | This contour stick comes in a set of three alongside a pink champagne cream highlighter and a yellow toned concealer. Technic is one of the more affordable brands with the set only costing around £7 and even cheaper on some sites such as eBay or Amazon. I was hesitant at first as I wasn’t sure if I like the colour of the contour itself, it’s more on the cooler side of things however it seems to work perfectly for my skin tone which I was super happy about. The product blends into my skin seamlessly and has amazing longevity power as it doesn’t seem to budge throughout the day. I also own Technic’s cream contour palette which insists of 8 shades to help you get the perfect contour, it retails for £5 and all the shades are super creamy and pigmented.

Benefit Dew the Hoola | I received this mini Dew the Hoola product in a Birchbox one month and of course, I was super excited about it. For someone who is a huge fan of the original Hoola bronzer I also cannot get enough of this product either. It’s unlike any of the other cream products I’ve mentioned so far as this one is a full on liquid bronzer… Yep, it’s a liquid. The consistency is not runny yet not too thick either. I like to apply one pump onto the back on my hand and then get a flat brush to apply it into the hollows of my cheeks, I like to blend it in with my Real Techniques expert face brush or sometimes I just like using the warmth of my fingers. It’s a warm toned shade, exactly the same shade as the original Hoola bronzer but just in a liquid form. This is a sample size however the real deal costs £24.50.

I am wanting to try out more cream contour products that are on the market today as I feel that more and more brands are starting to come out with them. I’d love to know some of your recommendations.

A Few Blogging Tools Every Blogger Needs

1:40:00 pm

Back when I first started blogging years ago, it was all very simple. You only needed the basic tools: a blog and a computer/laptop. As the years go past, I am becoming a lot more serious with my blogging and I have tried many different resources and tools to help make my blog run a lot smoother and become more efficient. I wanted to share with you some of the tools that I find essential when it comes down to maintaining my blog, let’s get started.

Probably one of the most obvious tools. Of course you can maintain a blog without adding any photos to it however it all seems a bit dull and unprofessional without them (in my opinion). You’re more likely to attract a bigger audience if you have photos on your site. What camera you decide to use is completely up to you, as you don’t always need a fancy DSLR when you’re first getting started. I personally use my iPhone camera for some blog pictures and I edit them on VSCO Cam. I already own a Nikon B500 camera from when I did photography in sixth form therefore sometimes I tend to use that too but just use whatever you feel comfortable with.

I can’t even begin to tell you how many notebooks I own. It’s slightly ridiculous however I go through them way too quickly. Notebooks are super handy when it comes down to staying organized with your blog. I have a whole notebook dedicated to blogging ideas, then I have another one completely dedicated to my blog routine. I like to schedule my posts and check off my to-do lists on a daily basis.

Social Media Scheduling
I have only just started scheduling my Twitter posts recently and I’m so glad I did as it makes things 100 times easier. One of the main things when it comes to blogging is promoting your posts, if you don’t promote what you write it makes your blog a lot harder to find and less people will read it. My main source of promotion is Twitter and I like using the Buffer app to schedule when my next promo tweet will go up. This is perfect for those who work full time during the day and don’t have a lot of time to spend on social media, simply schedule your posts the day before and let them automatically post on your Twitter throughout the day.

Google Analytics
If you’re like me and you check your page views via Blogger, then stop what you’re doing. After a ton of research I found out that the Blogger page views aren’t correct and they’re not a true representation of how many views you’re getting monthly. Instead, sign up to Google Analytics if you’re wanted to analyse the success of your posts. If you want to learn more about this, head over to this post HERE where Leah from Devoted to Pink shares the basics about Google Analytics and tells you how to effectively monitor your blog traffic.

Snapseed + VSCO Cam
Everyone needs a photo editing app, and these two are my absolute favourites. Snapseed is the first one I use, mainly to get that perfect white background. If the lighting isn’t looking too great and the photos come out a bit dull then Snapseed can help you out with that. Moving onto VSCO Cam which I’m sure pretty much everyone has heard about. You can edit pretty much anything with this app and it contains a variety of FREE Instagram worthy filters. What’s not to love?

I’d love to know what blogging tools and resources you like using on a daily basis!

10 Movies I Could Watch Over and Over Again

11:32:00 am

To me, there’s nothing better than snuggling up in my PJ’s, grabbing a good cup of tea and maybe some popcorn if I feel like getting real fancy, to watch a movie. I’m an absolute movie geek and the fact that myself and the boyfriend have unlimited cinema cards is perfect for us. We legit go to the cinema around twice a week if we’re not too busy and its fab. I’m going to share with you some of the movies that I could watch over and over again without getting bored. The ones that I just can’t resist.

The Notebook. Of course, most girls favourite love story and a good ol’ tear-jerker. I can be the soppiest romantic person when I want to be therefore I feel like this movie was made for people like me. The love story in this is without a doubt one of my favourites. Plus, RYAN GOSLING.

Drive. Speaking of Ryan Gosling… I love him in this film. I have to be in a certain mood to watch an action/crime film and when I am, this one always comes to mind. Although I would stay away if you don’t like gore.

Mean Girls. You go Glen Coco. This is the most classic chick flick to watch at a sleepover with your friends. I have seen this movie so many times that I know the whole script. Literally not even an exaggeration. No matter how many times I watch this, it still gives me endless amount of giggles.

Hairspray. One of my favourite musicals. (Apart from La La Land). Hairspray is just one of those up-beat feel good musicals that I can’t help but want to dance and sing along to every single time. I’m pretty sure my boyfriend gets fed up with the amount of times I start singing ‘I can hear the bells’ out of nowhere.

Harry Potter. Who doesn’t love a bit of Harry Potter? I have grown up watching it and I wouldn’t want it any other way. I’ve been through so many emotions whilst watching the films and I can’t even begin to explain how happy I was when I found out about Fantastic Beasts!

Star Wars. A lot of people have been shocked when I’ve told them how much of a Star Wars geek I am. I remember watching them back to back when I was younger and a few years back, I did a Star Wars Marathon on May 4th (be with you) Get it? But no seriously, we started at 6am and finished at 9pm. It was great.

Bridesmaids. One of the funniest films I have ever watched. I saw this twice at the cinema and a few times at home and it still makes me laugh to the point where my belly hurts.

Ghost. I remember my mum showing me this film when I was younger, and then I remember crying my eyes out in her arms afterwards. It’s such a beautiful film. Patrick Swayze and Demi Moore do such a fantastic job in this too.

The Fault in our Stars. Another one that will produce you to tears. I read the book in about 2 days, and then of course I was super excited when I heard they were making a film out of it. I saw it the first night it came out and I simply loved it, although I cried my eyes out. I think the most exciting thing ever was when I went to Amsterdam, myself and the boyfriend visited the famous bench that was in the film and we ended up putting a love lock onto it. It was a cute moment okay?

Prisoners. Wow. This movie gives me way too many emotions. It’s a good 2 hours and 30 minute film however it’s literally one of my favourite crime/mystery films ever. Hugh Jackman plays an amazing role alongside Jake Gyllenhaal who is also amazing. If you’re a parent, I feel like this movie would make you feel terrified of leaving your kids alone to play outside. It terrified me and I’m not even a parent lol.

I feel like I wanted to add a lot more films into this but these are the ones that I most enjoy watching. I’d love to know if you like any of these too. What are your favourites to watch over and over again?

The Best Highlighter For Pale Skin ft. Jeffree Star Ice Cold

11:06:00 am

If you know me then you’d know that I am a huge fan of Jeffree Star Cosmetics, his liquid lipsticks are one of my favourites in terms of formula, pigmentation and the whole colour range. Ever since his Skin Frost collections came out last year I have had my eye on the Ice Cold shade for what seems like F O R E V E R. I was super undecided about this product as I didn’t want to spend £25.50 for a highlighter however it’s so worth it and I’m very happy that I did.

When I received this product, I was surprised with how heavy and large the packaging was. It comes in a beautiful vibrant pink plastic container with the Jeffree Star logo printed on the lid in a kind of duo-chrome colour. It has a generously sized mirror which you can see your whole face in making it easy to apply the highlighter. You get 15g of product in this bad boy! Which immediately makes me think I’ve got my money’s worth already considering if we compare it to Becca Shimmering Skin Perfector for example, you only get 8g of product in that for a whopping £32.

In terms of the formula, it’s amazing. Just as I expected it to be. Its super pigmented and blends out beautifully on my skin as it has a buttery smooth feel to it. The formula reminds be a bit of Makeup Geek Foiled Eyeshadows as it’s has a super metallic look to it. You only need the tiniest amount of product for that beautiful glow, a little goes a very long way with this. I bought mine off of Beauty Bay where they have a wide range of 12 shades, I opted for Ice Cold as I’m more on the pale side and I find that this would work perfectly for those with a more fair skin tone. I struggled to find a highlighter that suits my pale skin until now.

(excuse the burn marks on my hand, i accidentally burn myself at work a lot lol)
Did anyone else own a fan brush but never knew what it was for? I only recently discovered the wonderful world of highlighting at the beginning of last year and realised that fan brushes are the one when it comes down to highlighter. I understand that some people hate using fan brushes as they feel like it doesn’t pick up enough product however my fan brush picks up the perfect amount for an everyday glow. If you’re wanting a more dramatic highlight then I’d suggest using Morphe E30 for a more precise application too.

I will most definitely be purchasing his products in the future, I actually have my eye on his Peach Goddess shade and I want to try to get my hands on the Jeffree Star and Manny MUA Collab products. Have you tried any of Jeffree’s products yet?

Is Batiste 2 In 1 Dry Shampoo Really Worth It?

11:02:00 am

I went out on a hunt for a new dry shampoo, I wanted something a bit different as I tend to re-purchase the original Batiste dry shampoo although I’ve never liked the fact that it leaves a white cast through my hair yet it manages to make my hair feel super clean. I was very intrigued when I saw the newest from Batiste with their 2 in 1 dry shampoo and conditioner.

I want to start by saying that I love the scent of this. I opted for the Orange and Passion fruit as I tend to lean towards fruity and tropical scents. I believe there are 2 more flavours in this range: Vanilla and Passionflower or Cocoa and Cashmere.

The one key word which interested me the most was “invisible”. Yep that’s right, the product leaves no white residue through your hair but does it actually work as well as the original Batiste when it comes down to cleaning my hair?
The product claims to refresh roots and nourish the ends of your hair with their new 18 hour conditioning properties. It specifically targets dryness and conditions the areas where it’s needed. It also says that it doesn’t leave any excess oil and claims no more dryness leaving your hair smooth and hydrated. I’m quite lucky as my hair doesn’t get greasy until the 3rd/4th day, I shook the can really well beforehand and then sprayed a little amount through my roots whilst massaging it in. It left no white cast which I was really happy about however I’m not too sure as to what it did for my oily roots. Although my hair felt soft and a lot smoother than before, it made my roots look shiny and if anything, more greasier. Saying that, I prefer using it on the mid lengths and ends of my hair where it’s the most driest to give it a bit more of a healthy shine.

Considering how much I love Batiste as a brand and how I have been using their products for years, I have never been let down. I am a bit disappointed in this particular product though. I don’t hate it, but it’s not the best. It doesn’t work for me and I kind of feel like I’ve wasted my money a little bit. I wouldn’t recommend this for anyone that gets greasy hair pretty quickly, I feel like this may be targeted for those who are on the dry side. For now on, I’ll most likely stick to the original Batiste.
