L'Oreal Botanicals

Tuesday, 15 August 2017

Fun Charlotte Fact: I’m lazy when it comes to my hair. There, I said it. I could spend hours doing my makeup and getting all glam but as soon as it gets down to doing my hair, I actually cannot be bothered. Although saying that, ever since I’ve chopped all my hair off to shoulder length I’ve been getting a lot better with giving it more TLC (which it desperately needs) mainly because it’s easier to manage.

Each time I pop into Boots to pick up a new shampoo and conditioner, I seem to come across L’Oréal’s latest Botanicals hair range – yet I’ve never bothered to pick it up until now. I have seen all the hype about this product over on Twitter and Instagram that I wanted to try it out for myself to see if it lived up to all the good expectations.
The whole point of Botanicals Fresh Care range is to produce luxurious hair care products which are infused with natural ingredients and aromatic fragrances. I don’t think I’ve ever owned a shampoo that smells this unique before, it’s more along the lines of a fresh herbal scent rather than the basic fruity scents which is such a nice change. The one that I picked up in particular smells a bit minty. Each of the Botanical formulas are free from silicone's, parabens and colourants. The shampoo and treatment bottles are made from 100% recycled materials.

The range comes in 4 key Botanicals: Safflower for dry hair, Geranium for dull hair, Camelina for frizzy hair and Coriander for weak hair. Each ingredient are sustainably sourced and infused into the formulas so you can find your ‘hairs better nature’.

I have only been using this range for just over a week therefore I can’t give an in depth review just yet, however as far as first impressions go I am loving it and I think my hair is loving it too! I specifically went for the Safflower range as my hair is a bit on the dry side at the moment and I wanted something that would bring back the hydration and softness in my strands. This product is infused with a concoction of safflower, soya and coconut oils to leave the hair feeling nourished, replenished and soft to the touch.

My hair tends to get very tangled after washing however I’ve noticed since using this product, my hair doesn’t feel as knotted and I can brush through it without tugging at my hair. I’m also a sucker for anything that smells lush on the hair and this product definitely exceeds that expectation of mine. I’d wash my hair in the morning, style it for the day and I can still smell the scent on my hair before I go to bed.

________________________________

This range is on the luxurious side of L’Oréal and it retails for £7.99 each (for the shampoo and conditioner) I’ve also noticed that they have a bunch of different hair treatments such as: Softening Ointment and Rich Infusion Masque with retail for around £9.99. There’s sure to be a product that suits your hair needs so I’d highly recommend trying out this range if you haven’t already. I’d also love to hear about what products you use to keep your hair staying healthy!

Five Things That Are Making Me Happy

Wednesday, 9 August 2017

PHOTOS TAKEN BY : SARAH @ohitssare
Well hello there, for some reason I feel like I haven’t managed to sit down and write a post for a while even though it’s only been a week. I have been wanting to start posting on this site twice a week however I just haven’t had the time to sit down and write posts, not to mention that I’ve had EXTREME writers block for the last few days. I am back (hopefully lol) and I can’t wait to start producing more content for this site. With that being said, let’s get on with the post…

I wanted to write this particular post as I feel like a lot has changed within the past couple of weeks and I love having a place to reflect on how things are going which I can then look back on to see if anything has improved. To me, my blog is like my diary – I love sharing new beauty content with you however it’s also a place for me to share my thoughts and express on certain things. Today I’m sharing with you five things that are making me happy right now and I encourage you to do the same, I’m all about staying positive in every situation therefore if you’re feeling a bit down in the dumps you should take a few minutes out of your day to write what makes you happy on a daily basis. It’s very therapeutic.

A NEW JOB
At the start of the year, one of my main goals was to get a new job and preferably a full time one. I’m not going to say too much but I just wasn’t happy with the job that I’m currently in and decided it was best for me to change. After a good few weeks of applying, I finally landed an interview… then a second interview… then a JOB OFFER. I start at the beginning of September and I’m over the moon about it. I can’t wait to start this new journey in my life.

GOOD FRIENDSHIPS
I had an amazing group of friends back when I was in school, and I knew that friendships would come and go, and that it would be completely different when we all go our separate ways. The only person I’ve stayed in contact with the whole way through is Taylor (tmaemakeup) - my best friend that I just can’t imagine my life without her. Two years back when I started my current job, I genuinely thought that I wasn’t going to make any friends however as some co-workers went and new ones started, I have managed to form some wonderful friendships which I know will stay with us once I leave my job.

FLORIDA 2018
The holiday that I have been looking forward to the most. Myself, my best friend and her family along with my fiancée are currently in the middle of planning a holiday to Florida next year. I know! How frickin’ exciting is that? I have always wanted to visit America and to know that I’m finally able to see the country with my favourite people is just incredible to me. Harry Potter World is the first thing on my agenda… Cheesecake Factory being a close second.

MY 21ST BIRTHDAY
In two weeks’ time I’ll be turning the big 21. It kind of makes me feel like an adult. My fiancée is taking me on a trip around London which is one of my favourite cities and we’re going to all the landmarks as well as some cute little cafes and streets which will be perfect for those Instagram pictures. I want to visit the Peggy Porschen Café and get that cliché blogger picture as well as Neal’s Yard in Covent Garden, I just think it’s going to be such a cute day. If you have any suggestion of cute little places to visit in London then please comment them down below!

ED SHEERAN TICKETS
If you follow me on Twitter then you’d probably seen that I managed to get Ed Sheeran Tickets for his Wembley Tour next year! I waited in the online queue for around 40 minutes and didn’t get through so I completely gave up, but then my fiancée tried it and he got through within 20 minutes, I was completely shocked and I did a huge squeal when we got them. Ed Sheeran has always been one of my favourite music artists and he’s the most amazing songwriter ever. I’m super excited.

Zoella's NEW Jelly and Gelato Range

Tuesday, 1 August 2017

Each and every one of Zoella’s beauty collections always has me jumping for joy when I see it. I went crazy for her Sweet Inspirations range that when I ran out, I ended up re-purchasing some more which is weird for me considering I never usually re-purchase the same body products. Zoella’s new Jelly and Gelato range has completely topped last year’s one and I just don’t even have the words to describe how beautiful it is. This is one of my favourite themes she’s done for far as it screams summer and brings back so many memories of eating Jelly and Ice cream in the garden as a little kid. If you haven’t tried anything from this collection yet, you should. You will fall in love.

You can clearly tell how much thought and effort went into this new collection. The thing that drew me in the most was the retro packaging as well as the quirky product names like “shower sauce” or “body pudding” – I mean c’mon how freaking cute? Not to mention the gorgeous pastel colours incorporated into the packaging to welcome the summer vibe. I didn’t know what to expect with the scent of the collection and I was completely shocked when I first smelt the products because it’s such a unique scent yet smells heavenly. If you tried her Sweet Inspirations range then you’d know how sweet that scent was, this one on the other hand has more of a fruity sweetness to it. Zoe decided on an elderflower and double cream scent, as soon as I opened up one of the products I instantly thought that the scent was a mixture of jelly and those fruit salad sweets!

My first thoughts on the Cream Scrub was that it looked like orange sorbet. It’s a wonderful moisturising body scrub mixed with ‘polishing sprinkles’ – SPRINKLES! Infused with extracts of Elderflower and Pomegranate. I personally don’t like body scrubs that are too harsh on the skin therefore this one was perfect for me, it has a balm like texture to it and the sprinkles are so small that you can hardly see them in the scrub. It also feels super gentle on the skin but does an incredible job of exfoliating, leaving you with baby soft skin and a beautiful lasting scent.

I wasn’t expecting much from the Shower Sauce as it’s just a regular shower gel, although it does smell amazing and manages to lather up really well. It doesn’t give off too much of a scent afterwards but I don’t mind that as the body scrub does that for me. I recon it could be too ‘sickly’ if this had a stronger scent to it.

I was most looking forward to the Body Pudding, it sounds amazing and it looks amazing. It comes in a gorgeous tub and I was surprised to see a bunch of little pink sprinkles inside which burst and sink into your skin as you use it. I don’t like moisturisers that sit on top of the skin for hours, but this one sinks in within a few seconds. I was so impressed. You only need a small amount to cover your arms or legs and the scent seems to last for hours! I used this in my morning shower and I could still smell it on me as I was eating dinner that evening and I didn’t re-apply it.

Improving My Skin with Palmer's Skincare Range

Thursday, 27 July 2017

For someone who suffers with dry skin, I have an obsession with hydrating skincare products. I am a huge fan of the original Palmers Cocoa Butter Formula lotion so as you could imagine, I was super excited when Palmers offered to send me some goodies from their skincare range. So if you’re anything like me and you’re wanting to improve dehydrated skin, then look no further than these affordable products. Warning: You will become obsessed.

I seem to go on and on about how I don’t like using wipes for makeup removal as I find it too harsh on my skin therefore as an alternative, I stick to micellar waters or oil based cleansers. This is where Palmer’s UltraGentle Facial Cleansing Oil* comes in handy. I use two generous pumps of this to massage in circular motions on a damp, makeup-caked face then I rinse thoroughly with warm water. Despite wearing waterproof mascara, this cleanser dissolved impurities and all traces of makeup within seconds leaving my skin feeling soft and cleansed whilst also giving it that glorious Palmer’s Cocoa Butter smell which I adore. This cleanser contains 8 pure oils: Apricot, Argan, Soybean, Sesame, Sweet Almond, Grape Seed, Jojoba and Rice Bran oil. The cleanser doesn’t leave any excess oil on the skin which is something I’m very fussy about and it claims to be suitable for all skin types as well as safe for sensitive skin AND it’s cruelty free!
To me, there’s nothing better than pampering your skin with a face mask once a week and I’m pretty sure I have found my new favourite mask. Palmer’s Purifying Enzyme Mask* helps to purify, exfoliate and smooth your skin. I don’t know why but clay masks are my all-time favourites, I get a weird sense of satisfaction every time I use one (is that weird lol?). This mask uses natural Kaolin Clay which lifts out impurities within minutes to deeply purify and cleanse the skin whilst Papaya Enzyme gently exfoliates resulting in baby soft skin. It says you can use this mask up to 3 times a week however I only like to use it once a week for an extra pampering treat! You only need to apply a thin layer of this and it completely dries in the next 10-15 minutes. You can then rinse off with warm water to reveal your soft and cleansed skin. I loved how this mask didn’t seem to dry my skin out any more than what it already was.

This next product is what I was most excited about trying. I’m going to admit that I have never tried any face oils in the past purely for the fact that most of them seem very expensive. Palmer’s Multi-Effect Perfecting Facial Oil* is on the market for just £9.99 which I think is an amazing price considering it contains the added benefits of Retinol (Vitamin A) which is an extremely effective ingredient that helps to visibly increases the appearance of firmness, diminish the look of fine lines and wrinkles, smooths and refines the surface of the skin and improves uneven skin tone. It’s very hard to find a product which contains Retinol for such an affordable price range these days! I have seen a massive improvement with my skin right from day one. My redness has reduced and the pores on my nose seems less noticeable. I suffer with major smile lines around my mouth which I have always been self-conscious about however I’ve noticed a huge improvement in which I don’t notice them as much anymore, not forgetting to mention that my skin appears more radiant and healthy. I use around 3-4 drop of this on my skin every night before I go to sleep so that I give it a good amount of time for it to do its job and sink in.

Cherishing Memories with Printiki

Friday, 21 July 2017

Sometimes we forget about all the amazing things we’ve done in life so we like to take pictures to treasure those memories. I have an Instax Mini Polaroid camera however it’s quite chunky and I don’t always like to carry it around with me wherever I go, instead I tend to just take pictures on my iPhone. Polaroid style pictures are everywhere right now, they have never gone out of fashion. Ever since I could remember I’ve been wanting to create a scrapbook full of all my favourite memories and life events which I can happily look back on through pictures. When the lovely lady Beatriz over at Printiki* contacted me, I jumped at the chance to work with them after seeing all the amazing reviews and the gorgeous prints.

If you haven’t guessed already, Printiki is a photo printing service which can link straight to your social media accounts so that you can print off some of your favourite pictures. Printiki offers many fashionable print styles to choose from such as:

  • Retro Square M (4x4”)
  • Retro Regular M (6x4”)
  • Retro Square L (5x5”)
  • Retro Regular L (7x5”)
  • Retro Regular XL (8x6”)
  • Square M (4x4”)
  • Regular M (6x4”)
  • Square L (5x5”)
  • Regular L (7x5”)
  • Regular XL (8x6”)

As well as being able to create a variety of posters and photo books. The retro prints are more of a polaroid style whereas the square prints have a thin white boarder around them, making it a perfect fit for your Instagram photos.

I am very fussy when it comes down to the cost of prints which is why I don’t tend to use photo printing companies that much as I can find some to be very overpriced for what they are. Printiki is a service that I will never stop using as it’s only £5.50 for 20 M prints and you can add an extra 10 for just £2.75… such a huge bargain! Not to mention that my prints arrived just 3 days after I ordered them. This is such a great price point especially as the quality of the pictures are insanely good. You have the option to choose either a matte or glossy finish, I optioned for the gloss and it gave my photos a more professional look to them with the beautiful added shine.

There’s so much that you can do with your prints. I went for a scrapbook as I’ve always been a very creative person therefore I enjoy decorating and adding to a scrapbook but it also gives me a chance to constantly look back on some of my favourite moments. You could make DIY wall art, photo bunting or a photo collage, the options are endless.

If you’d like to have a look around and buy some prints for yourself or even as a gift to someone special then head straight over to the Printiki website. As a special little treat for you guys, I have an exclusive voucher code that first time buyers can use at the checkout to receive FREE SHIPPING which means you get 20 medium prints for just the price of £5.50!

Voucher Code: X77JNFE8

Also, don’t forget to follow Printiki on their social media platforms for some photo print inspiration:

Let's Talk: Body Confidence and Learning to Love Myself

Tuesday, 18 July 2017

*All photos were taken by Sarah: ohitssare

Instagram: ohitssare_*

I’ve been sat here looking at a blank page for a while now. You know when you have so much that you want to say but you’re not sure how to put those thoughts into words? That’s me right this moment. I’m also quite anxious about writing this post as 1) it’s a lot different to what I normally write and 2) I have never been very open about this subject therefore the thought of sharing it on the internet seems daunting.

My body weight is something I have constantly struggled with back in school which was 5 years ago and it’s been an ongoing battle ever since. Let’s just say, I wasn’t exactly the slimmest of girls and I’m still not. I’ve lost weight since but I’m still not what you would consider as ‘slim’. During school, I got bullied about my weight in person and over social media. The words ‘fat’ came out of people’s mouths like word vomit and when someone starts saying something about you constantly, you start to believe it for yourself. That’s when the anxiety kicks in.

I’ve never been a confident person as it is, therefore being put down and made to feel small just makes everything worse. I’m the sort of person that tries to find the positive in every situation possible but sometimes that’s hard to do when you’re getting such nasty words thrown at you. I remember I would always try to just ignore them and brush it off but as soon as I got home, I’d break down and cry for hours on end. Thinking to myself “Why do I have to be so fat?” or “I need to stop eating” – thinking back to that point in my life makes me sad and angry. To think that I let such heartless people get to me like that just angers me. I was very shy and if I’m honest, I didn’t know how to stick up for myself back then and I didn’t really want to give them the light of day as I knew they were trying to get a reaction out of me. I wasn’t willing to give it to them.

For years I have battled with my weight shifting up and down due to contraceptive pills, stress and just generally eating either less or more. There was a point in my life where I wasn’t eating enough therefore I was always tired and would occasionally faint and it still scares me to this day that I let myself get like that. I am finally at a weight I’m comfortable with, I’m a happy size 12 and I have learnt to accept that I’m never going to be a size 8 but that’s okay. It does make me sad however that I feel like social media has played a huge part in making my self-esteem lower as I remember seeing so many magazines on how to achieve the “perfect” body or magazines ripping apart other celebrities just because they put a bit of weight on. It makes me so upset thinking younger girls are reading stuff like that probably thinking to themselves that they need to look a certain way.
With the support of my wonderful friends, family and fiancé, I have learnt to accept my body for what it is. Of course, I still get those days where I feel insecure (just like everyone has those days) but each day I try to think of the positives. I’m learning to love my stretch marks and embracing my curves, and I’m slowly learning not to give a crap about what other people think of me. I need to worry about loving myself first instead of loving the idea of other people loving me.

I guess what I’m trying to get across in this post is, you are all beautiful. No matter what shape or size you are. I think it’s time we all start appreciating how we look and learn to love ourselves instead of comparing ourselves to others. Never did I ever think I’d be sat here posting pictures of full body shots over the internet, it would be something I didn’t have the confidence for back in the day. It just goes to show how far I’ve come.

Making The Most Out of iPhone Photography

Saturday, 8 July 2017

Guess what? I’ve been blogging for over 3 years and I still shoot blog photography with my trusty iPhone 6. I know that my photos aren’t the best and yes, I constantly find myself drooling over others blog photos wishing I had perfect pictures just like that but unfortunately I’m not that talented. Funny thing is, I actually have a perfectly fine Nikon L310 sitting around in my room but I refuse to use it as I find iPhone’s easier and quicker to use.

I believe a lot of people really underestimate the power of an iPhone/Android and I admit, sometimes at first glance the photos can look a little poor however with a ton of editing apps and bit of playing around with, you can end up achieving some awesome images.
THE GRID OPTION
If I’m being completely honest here, I had no idea about this feature until I saw someone talking about it on social media. Cleaaaarly I’m not great with technology these days. This has completely changed my photography game for the better, the grid helps to make sure all your photos are level making sure the rules of third is applied with ease. This took a bit of practicing and bit of getting used to but in the end you can achieve visually pleasing photos. To enable this feature head to Settings > Photos & Camera > Grid and select it green.

TAP TO FOCUS
Probably my most used and useful feature when it comes to taking my photos. Simply tap the screen where you want the image to focus creating a clean and sharp image. Don’t worry about having shaky hands (I have the most unsteady hands ever) it will automatically focus to wherever you end up tapping without a problem.

ALL ABOUT THAT LIGHTING
If you can, try and take photos in natural lighting which is for me personally the best. I find that with artificial lighting, my photos can look more on the yellow toned side and it becomes a lot harder to edit. I try to shoot my photos at around 10am-11am where the lighting is usually at its best and I also like to make sure the window is in front of me when taking them to get the best results as I possibly can.

EDIT, EDIT, EDIT
I can never post a photo without editing it a bit beforehand, I always feel like my photos look somewhat ‘unfinished’ if it’s not edited. I understand that editing all comes down to personal preference however, here are some of the apps that I use to edit my photos with PLUS THEY’RE ALL FREE!

SNAPSEED: I mainly use this app for when I want to brighten the background of my pictures especially when I feel like I’ve taken some shots in awful lighting. This app contains a selective feature which allows you to select in detail where you want to either brighten, change the contrast or change the saturation. That’s not all though! It comes with a bunch of other features like tuning your image and changing the structure.

COLOURSTORY: This is pretty much similar to SnapSeed in terms of allowing to play around with the brightness, contrast and saturation. Completely changing the brightness of my whole photo is what I use this for. The app also contains a selection of effects such as flare and light leaks whilst giving you a variety of choices in the filter sections.

VSCO CAM: I feel like everyone and their mother has heard about this editing app as it’s so popular within the blogging community. I use this whenever I want to add a universal filter to my photos (A5, HB1 and HB2 all being my personal favourites). Like any other photo editing app, it also allows you to change the basics like sharpness and clarity to make your photos look more like they were taken off a DSLR camera, what a bonus!
What do you use to take blog photos?

A New Favourite Mascara?

Thursday, 6 July 2017

When it comes to mascaras, I never really venture out to try new releases as I like to stick to the same ones that I know will always work for me. If I’m honest, I’m quite fussy with my mascaras which is probably why I haven’t tried a great deal of them. The lovely people over at Essence Cosmetics sent me a ton of goodies to try out and to my surprise, the I Love Extreme Waterproof mascara was my favourite of the bunch.

Before using this I did a bit of research for some reviews like I would normally do, however there wasn’t a wide variety of them, although I did manage to find some first impression videos on YouTube and some of them seemed a bit disappointing which meant I didn’t set my hopes up high for this one. Boy was I wrong! I love everything about this mascara from the formula, to the applicator and to how it made my eyelashes look.
I like the blue and pink packaging that this product comes in and the tube seems a lot wider and ‘fatter’ than any of my other mascaras that I own. The bristles on the applicator are quite dense and thick which worried me at first because I thought it was going to clump my lashes together however it did the complete opposite – it separated my lashes beautifully whilst giving them a good amount of volume and lift (bearing in mind, I used an eyelash curler beforehand). It’s also waterproof which means you won’t need to worry about smudges, I wore this product for a good 10 hours the other day and it held up perfectly. The only thing I will address was that it took AGES to remove at the end of the day which is understandable considering it being waterproof. I used my regular Garnier Micellar Water and a good few cotton pads to get rid of it, but I sometimes found myself rubbing at my lashes too forcefully so I would highly recommend using something more oil based to help breakdown the product.
You can find this mascara over at Wilkinson’s for just £2.80 which is possibly the cheapest mascara I own and it’s a bargain considering it works like a charm. I think it’s safe to say that I will defiantly be re-purchasing this product once I’ve ran out.

Have you tried any Essence products? What’s your go-to mascara?

5 Minute Holiday Makeup

Monday, 3 July 2017

After being away for a week, soaking up the sun in Portugal – I’m back! It was one of my favourite holidays that I have ever been on and I’m already planning another one for next year. On holiday, I like to keep my makeup as simple as possible especially if I’m going to a hot country as there’s nothing more annoying than constantly having your makeup melted off by the scorching sun. I never worry about wearing makeup during the day whilst I’m away, it’s only really during the evenings at around dinner time that I like to make a bit of effort however it’s always very minimal.

I don’t bother with any foundation on holiday as most of the time, I genuinely don’t need it and I don’t want it melting off within the next 30 minutes after application. Instead I like to use a Bourjois Radiance Reveal Concealer to cover up any of the main blemishes or redness that I’m most concerned about. I pretty much just use the warmth of my fingers to gently blend it into my skin and I don’t even set it with powder afterwards, as I have such dry skin (especially when I’m on holiday) that I don’t need to use a powder to set it in place as I know it’ll most likely hold up on its own.

I don’t tend to bother with my brows on holiday as they’re quite naturally ‘bushy’ anyway therefore I feel like I don’t need to do much to them other than brush them through with a spoolie. If I can actually be bothered with them, I’ll use the Rimmel Brow This Way just to give them a bit of colour whilst also setting them in place for the evening. Now, I’m a huge eyeshadow lover and I feel like I cannot go a day without wearing some sort of colour on my lids but instead of using up so much time trying to figure out what eyeshadow look I want each day, this is where Maybelline Colour Tattoo comes in handy. I use the shade Rose Gold to create a wash of colour over my lids that ends up lasting throughout the whole evening without having to do too much work.

I can’t leave the house in the evenings without a bit of eyeliner and mascara, I feel like my eyes look naked without them on. Maybelline Satin Eyeliner is perfect for defining my lash line and the tip is so fine that you don’t have to worry about creating a super thick line. Benefit Roller Lash is my go-to mascara to get those beautiful curled lashes with the volume included and you don’t have to worry about your lashes clumping together with this one. Lastly, I like to finish my look with a moisturising lipstick as it’s very easy for your lips to get dried up during your holidays due to the sun. Maybelline Colour Sensational in Velvet Beige is the perfect everyday nude shade on the slightly warmer brown tone side. Its super moisturising yet stays on the lips for the whole evening without having to re-apply so many times.

That’s it! My super quick and easy 5 minute makeup that I like to wear on holiday to feel more put together when I only have very limited time. Do you wear makeup on holiday?

Stepping out of my comfort zone

Thursday, 22 June 2017

In past posts I’ve briefly talked about my anxiety and how I try to deal with it on a regular basis. Of course everybody has their down days every now and again however my anxiety stops me from doing so many things and I turn down a lot of opportunities/days out due to the constant worry of having a panic attack.

Stepping outside of my comfort zone is something that I believe I have needed to do for a very long time to help myself become a more independent person. Overtime I feel overwhelmed by fear that I feel like there’s no room for excitement or adventure in my comfort zone.
With that in mind, I have felt it’s about time I start stretching the limits just a little bit by taking baby steps into escaping that constant fear of stepping out of my comfort zone whilst also building confidence on the way.

Don’t be afraid to be yourself: One of the biggest things that hold me back is the fear of what other people think of me. I lived my life for a good few years trying to impress everyone (even those that I didn’t really like too much) in the result of wanting to be liked for myself. I’m not ashamed to admit that I used to agree on a lot of things that I didn’t actually agree on for the pure fact that I was too afraid of expressing how I truly felt just in case someone didn’t like my opinion. That is not the way to live. Everyone has different personalities and different opinions which is what makes us so special and unique. It’s okay to be silly and inappropriate at times and it’s defiantly okay for you to express your own feelings and be who you are. You’re not going to get along with every person you meet and that’s fine. Shatter your concern for what people think of you because you’re allowed to be less than perfect.

See failure as a learning curve: I don’t take many risks due to the fear of failing something, so instead I’d rather just not try in the first place which I know is the completely wrong attitude. I remember reading the quote “Ever tried, ever failed. No matter, try again. Fail again, fail better” I need to start accepting that failures are a part of life and if I don’t fail something then I’m never going to learn for the next time I want to try again. Don’t let failure discourage you, pick yourself back up, learn from it and try again.

Say “yes” more often: Even if you think you’re not ready or if you’re not sure on something, just say yes anyway. Going back on the point of taking risks, saying yes may open up many opportunities for you and if it doesn’t succeed then that’s okay. You might find yourself enjoying something that you never got the chance to do before. Just remember that in the end, you could regret all the chances that you didn’t take.
Do something that scares you: I’ve talked about being a nervous traveller in a recent post; I have a huge fear of transport especially flying. Last year, I faced my fear and went on a plane to Amsterdam and even though it was a short 45 minute journey – I still did it and felt amazing afterwards that I was able to accomplish a major fear of mine. Managing that journey without having massive amounts of anxiety has made me realise that next time I can go that little bit further and be okay with it mentally.
Do you feel stuck inside of your comfort zone? I’d love to know your ways on how you push yourself out of it!

Recent Beauty Bits with Bourjois

Saturday, 17 June 2017

After hearing that Bourjois had a 3 for 2 offer on in Boots about a week ago, I couldn’t resist and just had to pick up some things (even though I’m meant to be saving for my holiday. Oops!). I have always been a huge lover of Bourjois as they were one of the first brands I ever tried when I started getting into makeup properly. I’m super happy with these recent purchases so obviously it would be rude not to share, say hello to my new Bourjois bits…

Healthy Mix Foundation (£9.99): No matter how many foundations I like to try out, there will always be that one foundation I always go back to no matter what and this is definitely ‘that foundation’. I remember a few years back I would re-purchase this product over and over again because I just love it so much. I haven’t used this for a good few months or so and I was in desperate need of a new foundation when I went shopping therefore I picked it up (again) and remembered all the reasons why I loved this. Although, I’m pretty sure they’ve changed the formula of this since I last used it as I found it gave a healthy glow to my skin which I don’t remember it being this dewy before however never the less, I still frickin’ love this product.

Radiance Reveal Concealer (£7.99): I got introduced to this back when my best friend Taylor (tmaemakeup) did my makeup one day for her portfolio. She used this to highlight and brighten underneath my eyes and my life changed forever (lol bit of an exaggeration) but seriously, this product is insane. For someone who has super dry under eyes like myself, this product works wonders to help keep my eyes hydrated whilst also giving me a brightened under eye which lasts for the whole day. For years, I’ve been using the Collection Lasting Perfection Concealer as I’m so pale that the fair shade worked perfect for my skin however this Bourjois concealer is now my holy grail and I’ll definitely will be leaning more towards this for future re-purchases. (With the 3 for 2 offer, I ended up getting this one FREE as it was the cheapest. Bonus!)

Rouge Edition Velvet Lipstick: Beau Brun (£8.99): I can’t go into Boots and not buy a lipstick. I’m an absolute lipstick hoarder so it wouldn’t be normal for me. Not going to lie but I literally spent 15 minutes trying to figure out which shade I wanted to get as there was too much choice and I just wanted them all. I’m pretty sure the boyfriend didn’t enjoy this part, bless him. I ended up going with ‘Beau Brun’ – a gorgeous pinky/nude shade, perfect for the warmer months. I already own one of these velvet lipsticks in another colour therefore I knew what the formula was going to be like already but in case you guys don’t know, there super creamy and soft when first applied to the lips and then they dry down into a liquid lipstick however they don’t dry out my lips fully which is what I like most about it. They’re non-transferable yet they are super easy to remove with makeup remover at the end of the day, which means you won’t need to scrub your lips to oblivion just to remove the product.
